Three years of uncertainty in Italy

The term hot autumn has been used by the Italian press to describe autumns with significant number of strikes and protests. Such discontent has often been directed against the government’s budget. While the rapid succession of political leaders showed a general inability to bring an acceptable level of stability to control the economic crisis, news of corruption, scandals and widespread unemployment populated the media. Since 2010 violence began to escalate in an uncontrolled way as the governments were introducing tougher austerity measures, starting a tense period which some accounts compared, in terms of outrage, to the late 70.
