Description
Monumental Chestnut Tree – Black and White Fine Art Print
From the series: Spiritus Terrae, breath of the wild
This is the second photo of a set of two depicting the Great Dead Chestnut Tree of Mannarolo. It has been conceived as a negative-positive contraposition to the first, winter, photograph.
This study was quite complex. In order to obtain two perceptually inverted images I spent time collecting as much information as possible on the times, on the combination of filters and film, on the seasonal color of the vegetation and leaves, etc. to obtain two perceptually inverted images.
More technical notes: to exploit the only available point of view it was necessary to use the vertical movement of the front standard and the application of the Scheimpflug principle on both axes to obtain sharpness up to the peripheral branches from edge to edge of the frame.
Original medium: 8×10″ film sheet
–> Silver gelatin print on FB Baryta paper is a special order, please contact me if you are interested <–
I choose the paper depending on the subject, the content and the size of the image. Base material, finish and grain may vary from photo to photo. If you order a batch I will print all the photos on the same paper though. All paper is archival and museum grade quality. I mostly use cotton fiber (photo rag) or alpha-cellulose paper 300 gr/m – Hahnemühle or Canson.
Signed and numbered open edition
This print is sold UNMATTED and UNFRAMED, pictured with mat to illustrate size and suggest framing option.

On the back of each print, a certificate of authenticity (COA) is applied. The certificate is unique and has anti counterfeiting features. Also on the COA you’ll find important information: title, author name, the number of the copy, if the edition is limited, materials used and a brief overview that describes the subject and the story behind the image. Finally I stamp and sign across the COA border.
Shipping costs apply only once on multiple purchases.
