Assailed by a series of painful symptoms, over some long 711 days I went through 31 appointments with 15 different doctors, 22 clinical tests, and a surgical operation. Many studies have shown that even illnesses that are not particularly rare can take several years to diagnose. Some remain undiagnosed for the patient’s entire life, while others are misdiagnosed. During the period without a diagnosis no specific support exists. Patients are forced to learn how to manage for themselves. They cannot begin a targeted treatment plan and often their symptoms are not treated correctly, which has serious repercussions for their professional, emotional, and social lives.

The most beautiful photography book I have ever read…
No aesthetics for aesthetics’ sake, but a compelling and moving story of human nature…
Thank you, thank you, thank you…
I took it without expectations.
It goes far beyond the photo book.
It is not a book by Riccardo.
Or rather, it is not only his.
In every page there is a part of us…
‘Undiagnosed’ is an engaging project that offers an alternative and rebellious reading. It drags the reader with no discounts through the uncertainty experienced by the author, the research and the conquest. “A picture can be worth a thousand words”, but this work, in a unique and eloquent combination of writing and photography, pushes the boundaries of the word to address a delicate and little or no debated topic.
Your work is thought-provoking and will accompany the reader even long after he has turned the last page.
Hi, the book is extremely beautiful, I devoured it in two evenings. I felt all the suffering and pain but also the hope and light inside every page. I was moved when reading some thoughts and moods. Sensations linked to a past that never passed resurfaced in me. The simple and true way in which you told your story amplified the power of every single photograph, and this really comes through! I didn’t know what to expect exactly from this book but I’m happy I gifted it myself. Thank you.
Dear Ricardo
I read your book which has deeply moved me.
At first, when you asked me to read the draft, Covid 19 had plunged us into containment. First of all, I saw astonishing similarities: time took on another dimension and we were looking at life with different eyes. But I soon realized that your containment had another dimension. It was a real confinement, inside a body that you no longer mastered, which made you renounce all his reasons for living and had no limits in time due to the fact that you had no diagnosis.
Your book is a fantastic life lesson and I admire your courage and determination!
This book is a dive into emotions, even the most difficult to describe, the most painful; it inspects them like a magnifying glass and extracts them from their cave to place them before our eyes, outside of ourselves and tell them in a suspended time. We can do nothing but welcome it like a dear friend and listen with our eyes to what it has to tell us.
Thank you so much Riccardo, for the care with which you pampered it until the moment of shipping, for having shared such a challenging moment of your life by turning it into art and for having brought to all of us a little piece of that Secret Forest that welcomed you.
I read your book and I feel the need to thank you for this unexpected and appreciated gift. I read it on a path along the road between Monte Santa Maria and Monterchi. I felt that it emanated something important for me and for this reason I devoured it immediately before arriving home. In reading it I found myself and so I can thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you and again thank you.
It’s an incredibly beautiful book.
I loved every page and every image in the book. It is an intimate and honest project that deserves the utmost consideration.
